4 Months Old

Lucas is now 4 months old and is more enjoyable than ever! I swear he is doing something new every day now. He giggles, coos and babbles, holds his toys, knows his name,pushes up on his arms, etc. He is really interactive now and loves to talk and talk. He went to his check-up and is definitely healthy weighing in at 19lbs. 3 oz and is 27 1/4 inches long. He is HUGE!!! He is off the charts and basically the size of an average 8 month old, however, wearing 9 - 12 month clothes! What a daddy's boy!! At age 13 he will be able to pick me up! He has started on solid foods now and we are up to peaches, prunes, peas, and cereal.




He is loving it and is sleeping thru the night again...thankfully! We have gotten to the point where he falls asleep on his own in his crib. No more rocking for 30 minutes while crying and fighting sleep. It is sooooo wonderful!

My First Trip to PA

Last week I got to go on my first big travel adventure! I was so excited to go to Butler, PA and see my family, but was also sad because my great-grandma passed away and I never got to meet her. My mommy and daddy waited until my bedtime to leave for the big car ride so I would sleep. I did really good except for about half way in when I woke up because I was uncomfortable in my car seat. I cried for a little bit but mommy was able to get my calmed down and I slept the rest of the way. We stayed at my Great Aunt Judy and Uncle Smiley's house. They have a crib for me and everything. I got to see all my extended family and meet all kinds of new people. It was great! I got so much attention and love especially from Mee Maw and Grandpa!









I got to go to the funeral home once but I was too little to go to the funeral so I got to stay with my cousins and play. I can't wait until I grow up big like them. They have so many fun toys.




I heard so many stories about my great-grandma. She sounded like a really funny, caring and loving lady. She did all kinds of fun things up until she got sick like bowling and playing cards. She was even buried with her bowling ball and a deck of UNO cards. I hope she was able to see me from heaven. We would have had fun together. I think she might have even fed me chocolate pudding! One of the stories I heard was that she fed my cousin chocolate pudding when he was a baby because she insisted he was hungry and that is why he wasn't sleeping and was crying. Yum Yum, sounds good, all I get is this yucky formula!

After a really busy few days it was time to come back home. I got to ride in a big airplane. Mommy was so worried that I would cry the whole time, but I slept the whole way through it. It was nice to get back home to all of my toys that I missed.

I look forward to my next big trip to Butler this summer!!

Lucas 1st Easter

Lucas Easter celebration started Thursday when he had a celebration at daycare. He dyed Easter eggs with the kids and got an adorable sports themed basket filled with toys and candy to bring home. He is apparently a hit at daycare while all the older kids love to hang out with him.

Saturday was beautiful so we decided to head down to DC to see the Cherry Blossoms as this was supposed to be "the day" to see them in full bloom. Lucas was great on this big adventure and probably more behaved than his parents who got really tired of all the people. It was so crowded it made it hard to enjoy, but we had a nice time. The best part of the day was our picnic beside the Smithsonian enjoying the shade and breeze.


Sunday morning Lucas got his singing duck from us and we headed off to church in our Sunday best.

We had a good time hanging out with the family and enjoying yet another beautiful day. Later he got to do a costume change into his little bunny outfit which I have to say was adorable.
He passed out early both nights and slept like a rock from all the fun and excitement. What a great weekend!

Mee Maw's Visit

My mom came down for a week to help out with Lucas and watch him one last week before starting daycare. It was a great week and I know Luke really enjoyed hanging out with her. He was of course spoiled rotten!! He got held, loved, kissed, and cuddled constantly. Not to mention our major shopping spree where he got tons of new clothes! He really needed a lot since he has already grown out of a lot of things and is now wearing size 6 months. He also celebrated his 1st St. Patrick's Day, got dedicated at church and slept thru the night for the 1st time, Yeah!!!!!!!! What a busy and exciting week! We were sad to see MeMa go and she was definitely upset to leave the little guy, but we will see her again soon and can't wait! What will we have in store then???

On The Job

Lucas is able to come with me to work or I can work from home on Mondays and Wednesdays. He has been the best little work buddy and Aunt Tina just loves having him there to spend time with her. She refers to him as her little furnace and actually dresses in lighter clothing when she knows he is coming because he will keep her warm. My office is now overcome with baby supplies and it looks like a nursery. What makes it even funnier is that he hasn't really used any of these supplies as he is passed around the office. He is the little office mascot. Here are some pictures of him helping out and working hard!

Time Flies

It feels like it was just yesterday we were anticipating the arrival of Lucas and here it is time to go back to work! Ugh! I can't believe we are coming up on him being 7 weeks old and my return to the world of employment. I have to say that I feel torn about going back. I look forward to a glimmer of my old routine and do love my career, but am so sad that this special time with Lucas as a newborn is ending. I am fortunate enough to be able to work from home or take him with me on Mondays and Wednesdays for awhile and have family watching him the first 3 weeks of my return. So thankfully he doesn't have to start daycare until the end of March and I will only be away from him 3 days a week. I still have my fears of leaving him and all of those thoughts that go through a mother's head like: will he be okay, what if I miss something, what if he cries a lot when I am gone, no one can take care of him like I can, etc. It is a scary thing leaving your baby for the first time, especially your first.

Well, Lucas know that I have enjoyed every minute of our 7 weeks together at home getting to know each other and bond as a family without any other stressors. It was so great even when you were crying and I was sleep deprived. Now we continue on our next adventure of trying to juggle work and motherhood. I know we will be fine with Daddy being the HUGE help that he is and us being a good team. So here's to the next chapter with you little man. The first was a blast.
